Job Title: Patient Access Director
Job Summary:
The Patient Access Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and financial counseling. They ensure that patients have a smooth and efficient experience from initial contact to the point of service. The Director works closely with clinical staff, billing department, and other stakeholders to optimize patient access processes and maximize revenue.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Develop and implement patient access policies and procedures.
2. Train and supervise staff in areas such as registration, scheduling, and insurance verification.
3. Monitor key performance indicators and metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
4. Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure accurate and timely patient information.
5. Coordinate with billing department to resolve patient billing issues.
6. Keep abreast of laws and regulations related to patient access.
7. Develop and maintain relationships with insurance companies and other third-party payers.
8. Prepare and present reports on patient access performance to senior management.
9. Participate in strategic planning and budgeting processes.
10. Stay current on industry trends and best practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related field, Master's degree preferred.
2. 5+ years of experience in a patient access leadership role.
3. Strong understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and healthcare software systems.
7. Certification in Healthcare Access Management (CHAM) or Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) preferred.
