📋 Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Surgical Operations to lead and oversee the planning, coordination, and administration of surgical services across our healthcare facility or network. This role is responsible for optimizing OR performance, improving patient outcomes, managing budgets, and driving operational efficiency in a fast-paced surgical environment. The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader with a background in perioperative services and a deep understanding of surgical workflows.

✅ Key Responsibilities:

• Direct daily operations of the Operating Room (OR), Pre-Op, PACU, SPD, and anesthesia support services

• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing leaders to optimize OR schedules and case throughput

• Ensure adherence to clinical standards, regulatory compliance, and infection control protocols

• Develop and manage departmental budgets, including equipment procurement and capital planning

• Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, patient safety, and team performance

• Lead hiring, training, and performance evaluations of perioperative staff

• Oversee patient flow, supply chain coordination, and OR utilization metrics

• Participate in strategic planning and surgical growth initiatives

• Prepare reports for hospital leadership and regulatory audits

🎓 Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred)

• RN license preferred (not always required depending on the facility)

• 7–10+ years of progressive surgical or OR management experience

• Strong knowledge of surgical scheduling systems, EMR (e.g., Epic, Cerner), and OR metrics

• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage large budgets

• Familiarity with AORN, CMS, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards

💼 Preferred Skills:

• CNOR or CSSM certification

• Experience with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies

• Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills

• Ability to lead in high-stress, high-acuity environments
