Job Title: Registered Nurse - Endoscopy
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in Endoscopy is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing gastrointestinal procedures. They assist in the pre-procedure preparation, intra-procedure monitoring, and post-procedure care of patients. The Endoscopy Nurse works closely with the healthcare team to ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the procedure.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Prepare patients for endoscopic procedures by taking vital signs, obtaining medical history, and explaining the procedure.
2. Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures by providing support and monitoring patient response.
3. Manage equipment and supplies in the endoscopy unit to ensure proper functioning and availability.
4. Provide post-procedure care to patients, including monitoring vital signs, assessing for complications, and educating on post-procedure care.
5. Document all patient care activities in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
6. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure coordinated care.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice.
2. BLS and ACLS certification required.
3. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an endoscopy unit or related area preferred.
4. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
