Job Title: Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to pregnant women during the labor and delivery process. They are tasked with monitoring the mother and baby's vital signs, administering medication, assisting with childbirth, and educating new mothers on infant care.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitor the progress of labor and assess the mother and baby's condition
2. Administer medications as needed, such as pain relief or oxytocin
3. Assist the physician or midwife during the delivery process
4. Provide emotional support to the mother and her family
5. Educate new mothers on prenatal and postnatal care, breastfeeding, and newborn care
6. Ensure a safe and clean environment for the mother and baby
7. Document all care given and update patient records
8. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for mother and baby
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license
2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
3. Previous experience in Labor and Delivery or Maternal/Infant care
4. BLS and ACLS certification
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
7. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
8. Compassion and empathy towards patients and their families
