Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery
Job Summary:
As a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to mothers and their newborns before, during, and after childbirth. You will work closely with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a safe and comfortable birthing experience for patients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitor the progress of labor and the health of both mother and baby
2. Administer medications and pain management techniques as needed
3. Assist with labor induction and cesarean deliveries
4. Provide emotional support and education to expectant mothers and their families
5. Perform postpartum assessments and care for both mother and newborn
6. Document patient information accurately and timely
7. Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans
8. Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff
9. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures as well as state and federal regulations
10. Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current on best practices in labor and delivery nursing
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
2. BLS and ACLS certification
3. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
4. Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery nursing
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
6. Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations
7. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
8. Knowledge of medical equipment and procedures used in Labor and Delivery
9. Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
10. Ability to provide compassionate and patient-centered care
