Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department is responsible for providing immediate and comprehensive care to patients in critical condition. They must be able to assess patients quickly, administer necessary treatments, and communicate effectively with the medical team to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assessing and triaging patients in the emergency room
- Administering medications and treatments as ordered by physicians
- Monitoring patient vital signs and responding to changes in condition
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care
- Educating patients and their families on treatment plans and follow-up care
- Maintaining accurate and thorough patient records
- Adhering to hospital policies and procedures to ensure patient safety and confidentiality
- Participating in emergency response drills and training exercises
- Providing care in a fast-paced and high-stress environment
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid RN license in the state of practice
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Prior experience in emergency and critical care settings preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and make quick decisions
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
