The Postpartum RN provides compassionate, patient-centered care to mothers and newborns following delivery. This role involves monitoring the physical and emotional well-being of postpartum patients, supporting breastfeeding and newborn care, and educating families during the transition from hospital to home.
Assess and monitor the recovery of postpartum patients, including vital signs, uterine status, and pain levels.
Provide newborn care including assessment, feeding support, and parent education.
Support and educate mothers on breastfeeding, self-care, newborn safety, and postpartum recovery.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including pain management.
Respond to emergencies and collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, and lactation consultants.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Foster a supportive and calming environment for families adjusting to newborn care.
Promote safe discharge planning and follow-up care coordination.
Licensure: Active RN license in [State]
Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
Certifications: BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required
Experience: 1–2 years of experience in postpartum, labor & delivery, or women’s health preferred
Strong clinical assessment, teaching, and interpersonal skills
Passion for maternal-child nursing and family-centered care
