Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor and Delivery (L&D)
The Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor and Delivery provides comprehensive, compassionate care to mothers and newborns throughout the childbirth process. This role involves supporting patients during labor, assisting with delivery, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and collaborating with obstetricians and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and positive birthing experiences.
The RN in L&D plays a crucial role in both routine and emergency situations, requiring quick decision-making skills, patient advocacy, and emotional support for mothers and families.
Monitor, assess, and record mother and baby vital signs during labor and delivery.
Administer prescribed medications, including epidurals and pain management.
Assist obstetricians during vaginal and cesarean births.
Provide emotional and physical support to mothers and families.
Educate new mothers on postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn health.
Maintain sterile and safe delivery environments.
Manage emergencies such as fetal distress or postpartum hemorrhage.
Document patient care and maintain accurate medical records.
Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required.
Minimum 1–2 years of experience in Labor & Delivery, OB/GYN, or Women’s Health preferred.
Excellent communication, empathy, and clinical assessment skills.
Strong clinical knowledge of obstetrics and neonatal care.
Calm and efficient under pressure.
Team collaboration with OBs, anesthesiologists, and pediatric staff.
Compassionate approach to patient care.
Time management and prioritization abilities.
