Job Title: Registered Nurse - Intensive Care Unit
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse - Intensive Care Unit is responsible for providing high-quality and compassionate care to critically ill patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). They must closely monitor patients, administer medications, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and provide support to patients and their families during difficult times.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assessing and monitoring the condition of critically ill patients in the ICU.
2. Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
3. Implementing and evaluating patient care plans.
4. Collaborating with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
5. Communicating effectively with patients and their families to provide support and education.
6. Ensuring the proper functioning of equipment and technology in the ICU.
7. Responding to emergencies and providing life-saving interventions as needed.
8. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.
9. Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
10. Following hospital policies and procedures to ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice.
2. Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) preferred.
3. Certification in critical care nursing (CCRN) preferred.
4. Minimum of 2 years of experience in critical care or ICU nursing.
5. Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
8. Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patients and their families.
9. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
10. Basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification required.
