Job Title: Registered Nurse - Operating Room
Job Summary:
A Registered Nurse in the Operating Room is responsible for providing patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. They work in collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients undergoing surgical interventions.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Preparing the operating room and ensuring all necessary equipment is sterile and functioning properly.
2. Assisting the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, monitoring patient vital signs, and providing support as needed.
3. Administering medications and anesthesia as directed by the medical team.
4. Communicating with patients and their families before and after surgery to provide education and support.
5. Documenting patient care and maintaining accurate medical records.
6. Participating in ongoing education and training to stay current on best practices and new technologies in the operating room.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Graduation from an accredited nursing program and current RN license in the state of practice.
2. Previous experience in an operating room setting is preferred but not required.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to work well under pressure and respond quickly to changing situations.
5. Attention to detail and a commitment to patient safety.
6. Basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification.
