Job Title: Labor and Delivery Nurse
Job Summary:
A Labor and Delivery Nurse is responsible for providing care to women during childbirth and ensuring the safe delivery of babies. They work closely with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to monitor the progress of labor, administer medications, and provide emotional support to mothers and families.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Monitor and assess maternal and fetal well-being during labor
- Administer medication as needed, including pain relief and induction agents
- Assist with procedures such as epidurals, cesarean sections, and vacuum extractions
- Educate mothers on labor and delivery processes and techniques for pain management
- Provide emotional support to mothers and families throughout the childbirth experience
- Document patient care and observations accurately and timely
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure the best possible outcomes for mothers and babies
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent
- Current RN license in the state of practice
- Certification in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB) preferred
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of labor and delivery procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
- Compassion and empathy for patients and their families
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask
