Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU)
Job Summary:
As a PACU nurse, you will be responsible for providing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical procedures. This includes monitoring vital signs, managing pain, assessing and documenting patient status, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure the safe and efficient recovery of patients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitor and assess patient condition post-operatively
2. Administer medications as needed for pain management and other concerns
3. Document patient responses to treatments and interventions
4. Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare providers to develop and implement patient care plans
5. Educate patients and family members on post-operative care and recovery
6. Maintain a clean and safe patient care environment
7. Provide emotional support to patients and families during the recovery process
8. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
9. Stay current on best practices and guidelines for PACU nursing care
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Active RN license in the state of practice
2. BLS and ACLS certification
3. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a PACU setting
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
5. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
6. Attention to detail and critical thinking skills
7. Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively
8. Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
9. Continual education in PACU nursing practices and procedures
