Job title: Medical Laboratory Scientist
Job Summary:
The Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for conducting complex chemical, microscopic, and bacteriological tests to provide crucial medical information to healthcare providers. They perform a variety of laboratory procedures and ensure accuracy and precision in medical testing results.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform laboratory tests on body fluids, tissues, and other substances to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease
- Analyze samples to identify microorganisms, detect chemical imbalances, and determine blood type
- Use high-tech instrumentation and equipment to conduct tests accurately and efficiently
- Record and analyze data, maintain detailed records of test results, and report findings to healthcare providers
- Evaluate the quality of test results and maintain proper documentation and record-keeping practices
- Monitor laboratory inventory, order supplies, and ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to interpret test results and provide important information for patient care
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) preferred
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures
- Experience with laboratory equipment and technology
