Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU)
Job Summary:
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU) is responsible for providing care to patients recovering from anesthesia after undergoing surgical procedures. They monitor patients for any complications, administer medications as needed, and work closely with physicians to ensure patients' well-being post-surgery.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitor patients' vital signs and pain levels post-surgery
2. Assess patients' overall condition and respond to any changes or complications
3. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
4. Provide emotional support to patients and their families during the recovery process
5. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients
6. Document patients' progress and communicate with other healthcare providers as needed
7. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures related to patient care and safety
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Current RN license in the state of practice
2. BLS and ACLS certification
3. Minimum of 1 year of experience in PACU or Critical Care nursing
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
5. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment
6. Attention to detail and strong critical thinking skills
7. Ability to multitask and prioritize patient care effectively
