Job Title: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Staff RN)
Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery Nurse (Staff RN) is responsible for providing care and support to women during labor and delivery, as well as postpartum care for both mother and baby. This role requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a compassionate demeanor to support patients during this important and emotional time.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitor fetal heart rates and other vital signs during labor
2. Assist with the delivery process, including providing comfort measures and pain relief options
3. Educate and support expectant mothers and their families throughout the labor and delivery process
4. Assess postpartum mothers and babies for any complications and provide necessary interventions
5. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients
6. Document all patient interactions and interventions accurately and thoroughly
7. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures related to labor and delivery care
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Current RN license in the state of practice
2. BSN degree preferred
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in labor and delivery nursing
4. BLS and NRP certifications required
5. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
7. Ability to remain calm and focused in high-stress situations
