Job Title: Sleep Technologist
Job Summary:
A Sleep Technologist is responsible for conducting sleep studies on patients to diagnose various sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and insomnia. They work closely with physicians to analyze sleep patterns and provide accurate diagnoses and treatment recommendations.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Set up and monitor sleep study equipment during overnight tests
- Calibrate and troubleshoot equipment as needed
- Educate patients on sleep study procedures and expectations
- Analyze sleep patterns and data to assist in diagnosis
- Document findings and report to overseeing physician
- Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the sleep study
- Maintain accurate records and ensure equipment is properly cleaned and maintained
Qualifications and Skills:
- Certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
- Strong technical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and patient care skills
- Ability to work overnight shifts and handle potentially stressful situations
- Knowledge of sleep disorders and treatment options
- Experience working in a healthcare setting preferred
