Job Title: Recreational Aide Long Term Care
Job Summary:
As a Recreational Aide in a Long Term Care facility, you will be responsible for assisting in planning and implementing recreational activities for residents to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. You will work closely with the recreation therapy team to create programs that cater to the diverse needs and interests of residents.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist in planning and implementing recreational activities such as games, crafts, music, and outings.
2. Encourage resident participation in activities to promote socialization and engagement.
3. Set up and clean up activity areas, ensuring they are safe and well-maintained.
4. Provide one-on-one support to residents who may need extra assistance during activities.
5. Document resident participation and progress in recreational programs.
6. Collaborate with other staff members to create a positive and supportive environment for residents.
7. Attend training and meetings to stay updated on best practices in recreational therapy.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Previous experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities preferred.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
5. Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to enhance the quality of life for residents.
6. Basic knowledge of recreational therapy principles and techniques.
