Job title: Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Job Summary:
A Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for operating imaging equipment to help diagnose and treat various medical conditions using radioactive materials. They work alongside physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and reliable imaging results.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Prepare and administer radioactive drugs to patients as directed by a physician.
2. Operate imaging equipment such as gamma cameras and PET scanners to produce clear images of the body's organs and tissues.
3. Monitor patients during imaging procedures to ensure their safety and comfort.
4. Analyze images and provide detailed reports to physicians for interpretation.
5. Maintain and calibrate equipment to ensure accurate imaging results.
6. Follow safety procedures and protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and self.
7. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and treatment plans.
8. Stay current on advancements in nuclear medicine technology and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related field.
2. Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
3. State licensure as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
4. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Knowledge of radiation safety procedures and protocols.
8. Experience working in a clinical setting preferred.
