Job Title: Phlebotomist
Job Summary:
A Phlebotomist is responsible for drawing blood from patients for various medical tests, blood donations, or research purposes. They ensure the proper collection, preparation, and labeling of blood samples for analysis by medical laboratories or healthcare providers.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Greet patients and explain procedures for blood collection
2. Verify patient identity and medical records
3. Use venipuncture techniques to draw blood from patients
4. Label blood samples accurately and maintain proper chain of custody
5. Properly dispose of biohazardous materials in compliance with safety regulations
6. Keep accurate records of blood collections and patient information
7. Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
8. Provide exceptional customer service to patients during blood collection procedures
Qualifications and Skills:
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Completion of a phlebotomy training program or certification
3. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
5. Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
6. Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures
