Job Title: Emergency Room Nurse, Med-surg Adult
Job Summary:
The Emergency Room Nurse, Med-surg Adult is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients in the emergency room and medical-surgical unit. They must be able to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assess and triage patients in the emergency room to determine the severity of their condition
2. Provide direct patient care in accordance with established nursing protocols and standards of care
3. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
4. Monitor and assess patient responses to treatments and interventions
5. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
6. Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medications, and self-care practices
7. Maintain accurate and complete patient records
8. Adhere to infection control and safety protocols
9. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice projects
10. Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families during times of crisis
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice
2. BLS and ACLS certification
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency room or medical-surgical nursing
4. Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
6. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment
7. Knowledge of emergency procedures and protocols
8. Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively
9. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
10. Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
