Job Title: Pre-Op/Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU)
Job Summary:
The Pre-Op/Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU) plays a crucial role in providing care for patients before surgery, during the anesthesia process, and in the immediate post-operative period. They are responsible for assessing patient needs, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring a safe and smooth transition from surgery to recovery.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct pre-operative assessments and prepare patients for surgery
2. Administer anesthesia and monitor patient response during surgery
3. Monitor vital signs and manage pain in the post-anesthesia care unit
4. Evaluate and assess patient recovery post-operatively
5. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and comfort
6. Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding post-operative care
7. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
Qualifications:
1. Valid RN license
2. BSN preferred
3. Certification in Perioperative Nursing (CNOR) a plus
4. Minimum of 2 years of experience in PACU or critical care setting
5. BLS and ACLS certification
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
7. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
