Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST)
Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the cleaning, sterilization, and distribution of medical supplies and equipment. They ensure that all instruments are properly cleaned and sterilized to prevent infections and maintain the highest level of patient care and safety.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Clean and decontaminate all surgical instruments and medical equipment according to established protocols
- Sterilize instruments using various methods such as steam sterilization, gas sterilization, and chemical sterilization
- Assemble instrument trays and sets for surgical procedures
- Inspect instruments for damage or defects and report any issues to the supervisor
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles and quality control tests
- Stock and replenish supplies in the sterile processing department
- Follow all infection control and safety procedures to ensure a clean and sterile environment
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide excellent patient care
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification preferred
- Previous experience in sterile processing or central supply preferred
- Knowledge of sterilization methods and infection control practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
