Job title: Surgery RN (Operating Room / Circulation & Scrub)
Job Summary:
The Surgery RN is responsible for providing high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures in the operating room. They will work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members to ensure the safety and well-being of patients throughout the surgical process.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Preparing the operating room for surgeries, including setting up equipment and supplies.
2. Assisting surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies, as well as serving as a patient advocate.
3. Monitoring patients during surgery and providing support as needed.
4. Administering medications as ordered by the surgeon or anesthesiologist.
5. Documenting patient care accurately and in a timely manner.
6. Collaborating with the healthcare team to develop individualized care plans for patients.
7. Providing post-operative care and education to patients and their families.
8. Maintaining a sterile and safe surgical environment at all times.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice.
2. BLS and ACLS certification.
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in surgical nursing, preferably in an operating room setting.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
6. Knowledge of surgical procedures and equipment.
7. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
8. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
