Job Summary:
A Registered Nurse Oncology Nurse is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing treatment for cancer. They work closely with oncologists and other medical professionals to administer medications, monitor patient progress, and provide emotional support to patients and their families.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Administer chemotherapy treatments and other medications as prescribed by oncologists.
2. Monitor vital signs and report any changes to the medical team.
3. Educate patients and families about cancer treatments and side effects.
4. Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families.
5. Assist in the coordination of patient care and treatment plans.
6. Document patient progress and treatment outcomes.
7. Collaborate with other healthcare providers to develop comprehensive care plans.
8. Stay up-to-date on advancements in oncology treatment and care.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license.
2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
3. Oncology Nursing Certification preferred.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
6. Compassionate and empathetic towards patients and their families.
7. Attention to detail and ability to follow treatment protocols.
