Job Title: Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU), Operating Room
Job Summary:
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU) is responsible for providing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgery or other medical procedures. Duties include monitoring vital signs, managing pain, and ensuring the safe transition of patients from the operating room to recovery. The PACU nurse plays a crucial role in post-operative care and is an integral part of the surgical team.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assessing patients post-operatively and monitoring their vital signs
- Administering medications as prescribed and managing pain effectively
- Providing care and support to patients as they recover from anesthesia
- Collaborating with the surgical team to ensure smooth transitions between the operating room and recovery
- Educating patients and their families on post-operative care and recovery
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid RN license with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a PACU or Operating Room setting
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
