Job Summary:
The Oncology Data Specialist, also known as a Tumor Registrar, is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and maintaining data on cancer patients. This information is crucial for cancer research, treatment planning, and ensuring accuracy in cancer registries.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Collect and organize data on cancer patients, including demographics, diagnostic tests, treatment plans, and outcomes.
2. Ensure data accuracy and completeness by conducting regular audits and quality checks.
3. Analyze and interpret data to identify trends, patterns, and outcomes related to cancer diagnosis and treatment.
4. Generate reports and statistics for healthcare providers, researchers, and government agencies.
5. Maintain confidentiality and compliance with regulatory requirements related to patient information.
6. Assist in research projects and clinical trials related to oncology.
7. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurse navigators, and oncologists, to ensure proper documentation of cancer cases.

Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Medical Record Technology, or related field.
2. Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential preferred.
3. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
4. Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
5. Proficiency in data management software and electronic health record systems.
6. Knowledge of cancer classification systems, such as ICD-O-3 and SEER.
7. Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
8. Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
