The Wound Care Nurse provides specialized nursing care for patients with acute and chronic wounds, including pressure injuries, surgical wounds, diabetic ulcers, and ostomies. This role involves assessment, treatment planning, intervention, and education in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to promote optimal wound healing and patient outcomes.
Perform comprehensive wound assessments and document findings accurately.
Develop and implement individualized wound care treatment plans.
Apply advanced wound dressings, negative pressure therapy, and other evidence-based interventions.
Monitor wound healing progress and adjust care plans as needed.
Educate patients, families, and staff on wound prevention, treatment, and self-care techniques.
Collaborate with physicians, dietitians, and other clinicians to support healing and prevent complications.
Ensure compliance with infection control and regulatory guidelines.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff training related to wound management.
Licensure: Active RN or LPN license in [State]
Education: Nursing diploma or degree; BSN preferred
Certification: WOCN or WCC (preferred or required based on facility)
Experience: 1–3 years in wound care, long-term care, acute care, or related field
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Familiarity with electronic health records and wound documentation systems
