Job Description

Job Summary:

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) performs complex laboratory tests to help diagnose, treat, and prevent diseases. Working in a hospital, clinic, or diagnostic lab setting, the CLS ensures the accuracy and reliability of lab results, supporting physicians and healthcare teams in patient care decisions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and analyze a wide range of clinical laboratory tests (hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, etc.)

  • Ensure accuracy, precision, and timeliness of test results

  • Calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment

  • Follow quality control procedures and document all lab activities

  • Validate and interpret test data, identifying critical results

  • Communicate findings to healthcare providers in accordance with lab protocols

  • Maintain compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and other regulatory standards

  • Participate in continuing education and laboratory improvement initiatives


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field

  • Valid CLS license (as required by state or country)

  • Certification by ASCP, AMT, or equivalent preferred

  • 1–2+ years of experience in a clinical lab environment

  • Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, instruments, and safety standards

  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and communication skills
