The Infusion RN is responsible for providing safe, effective, and compassionate infusion therapy to patients in ambulatory, outpatient, or inpatient settings. This role involves assessing patient needs, initiating IV therapies, administering medications, monitoring patient responses, and educating patients and families regarding treatment plans.
Administer IV infusions, injections, blood products, and other therapies as prescribed.
Perform patient assessments before, during, and after infusion treatments.
Insert and maintain IV lines, central lines, and ports with adherence to aseptic techniques.
Monitor and document patient progress, adverse reactions, and interventions.
Educate patients and caregivers on treatment, side effects, and self-care practices.
Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
Maintain accurate infusion records in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Follow infection control and safety protocols to ensure patient well-being.
Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and staff education programs.
Current RN license (state-specific).
BSN preferred; ADN with relevant experience accepted.
Prior experience in IV therapy, infusion center, or oncology nursing preferred.
Strong IV insertion and vascular access skills.
BLS/ACLS certification required (depending on specialty).
Excellent communication, patient education, and critical-thinking skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Ambulatory infusion centers, specialty clinics, hospitals, or home infusion services.
May require flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts.
