Sterile Processing Technologist (SPD Tech)
The Sterile Processing Technologist is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role ensures all surgical and procedural instruments are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained according to hospital and industry standards to support safe patient care.
Decontaminate, clean, inspect, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment.
Assemble instrument trays and sets according to procedural requirements.
Operate and monitor sterilization equipment (steam, plasma, or chemical sterilizers).
Track and document all sterilization cycles and equipment maintenance records.
Maintain inventory of instruments, supplies, and sterile storage areas.
Collaborate with surgical and nursing teams to ensure instrument availability and readiness.
Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory compliance protocols.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or equivalent preferred.
1β2 years of sterile processing or central service experience preferred.
Knowledge of sterilization techniques, medical terminology, and surgical instrumentation.
