Job Description

Job Summary:

The NICU Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to premature and critically ill newborns in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. This role requires advanced clinical skills, critical thinking, and strong compassion for infants and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to premature and critically ill infants

• Monitor and operate NICU equipment such as ventilators, incubators, and feeding pumps

• Assess vital signs, lab results, and overall medical condition of newborns

• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams

• Educate and support parents regarding the infant’s condition and care plan

• Respond quickly to emergencies and provide necessary critical interventions

• Follow infection control, safety standards, and NICU protocols

• Maintain accurate documentation and charting in EMR

• Administer medications and observe response to treatments

Qualifications:

• Active RN License (State-specific)

• BSN preferred (not mandatory in all facilities)

• Minimum 1 year of NICU experience preferred

• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required

• BLS/ACLS certifications required

• Strong neonatal assessment and critical care skills

• Excellent communication and family support abilities
