Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) Case Manager – Emergency Department Mental Health to coordinate and manage care for patients presenting with psychiatric, emotional, and behavioral health needs in the Emergency Department. The role focuses on patient assessment, care planning, crisis intervention, discharge coordination, and collaboration with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide mental health assessments and risk evaluations in the ED setting

• Develop and implement individualized patient care and discharge plans

• Coordinate with psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, and community resources

• Manage crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques

• Ensure proper documentation in electronic health records (EHR)

• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and available resources

• Facilitate referrals and follow-up appointments

• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards

Required Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities

• Crisis management and de-escalation skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication

• Knowledge of behavioral health regulations and standards

• Ability to work in fast-paced ED environments

Education & Licensure

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (State)

• BLS certification (ACLS preferred)

Experience

• Previous experience in Emergency Department or Mental Health preferred
