Job Description

🔹 Job Summary:

The Operating Room / PACU / Pre-Op RN is responsible for planning and delivering high-quality perioperative nursing care for surgical patients. The nurse will support patients before surgery (Pre-Op), during surgery (OR), and after surgery (PACU) ensuring patient safety, monitoring vital signs, collaborating with the surgical team, and providing patient education.

🔹 Key Responsibilities:

✔ Conduct pre-operative assessment and collect medical history
✔ Prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgical procedures
✔ Coordinate with anesthesiologists, surgeons and surgical teams
✔ Maintain sterile surgical field and ensure infection control compliance
✔ Assist with instrumentation, surgical equipment, and OR procedures
✔ Monitor patient vitals, pain level, consciousness, and airway in PACU
✔ Provide post-operative patient care and implement recovery protocols
✔ Document patient responses, medications, orders, interventions and outcomes
✔ Provide patient/family education on post-op instructions and safety
✔ Respond to critical/emergency situations promptly

🔹 Required Qualifications:

🔸 Active RN License
🔸 Minimum 1–2 years experience in OR / PACU / Pre-Op
🔸 BLS and ACLS certification required
🔸 Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage high-pressure situations

🔹 Preferred Experience:

⭐ Experience with orthopedic, general, neuro, cardio, or trauma surgeries
⭐ Familiarity with EPIC / Cerner / Meditech charting
⭐ Experience monitoring patients recovering from anesthesia

⏱ Shifts: 8-hour / 10-hour / 12-hour rotations available
