Job Title: Infection Preventionist
Job Summary:
The Infection Preventionist is responsible for implementing and monitoring infection control policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. This role involves identifying and preventing the spread of infectious diseases within healthcare facilities, educating staff on proper infection control practices, and collaborating with healthcare team members to improve overall patient safety.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Develop, implement, and evaluate infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
2. Perform surveillance and data analysis to identify trends and patterns in infectious diseases.
3. Educate staff on proper infection control practices and provide ongoing training and support.
4. Collaborate with healthcare team members to implement best practices for preventing infections.
5. Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
6. Investigate and respond to outbreaks of infectious diseases within the facility.
7. Serve as a resource for staff, patients, and families on infection prevention and control issues.
8. Stay current on the latest research and guidelines related to infection prevention.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in healthcare-related field (Nursing, Epidemiology, Public Health, etc.).
2. Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Attention to detail and ability to analyze complex data.
5. Knowledge of healthcare regulations and guidelines related to infection prevention.
6. Experience working in a healthcare setting preferred.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
