Job Title: Oncology Nurse
Job Summary:
The Oncology Nurse is responsible for providing specialized care to patients with cancer. They assist in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients, as well as provide emotional support and education to patients and their families. Oncology Nurses work closely with oncologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for their patients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Administer chemotherapy and other cancer treatments
2. Monitor patients for side effects and complications
3. Educate patients and their families about the cancer diagnosis and treatment plan
4. Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop individualized care plans
5. Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and families
6. Assist with pain management and symptom control
7. Document patient progress and treatment outcomes
8. Stay up-to-date on the latest advances in cancer treatment
9. Participate in clinical trials and research studies
10. Advocate for patient needs and rights
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license
2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
3. Certification in Oncology Nursing (ONC) preferred
4. 2+ years of experience in oncology nursing
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
6. Compassionate and empathetic nature
7. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
8. Attention to detail and accuracy in patient care
9. Knowledge of cancer treatments and side effects
10. Ability to handle emotional and high-stress situations
