Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacist


๐Ÿ“ Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacist to join our fast-paced Emergency Department (ED). In this critical role, you will provide real-time clinical support, medication management, and therapeutic recommendations for acute and life-threatening conditions. You will be an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team, ensuring optimal pharmacotherapy and patient safety in the emergency setting.


โœ… Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical pharmacy services in the Emergency Department (ED), including direct patient care, medication selection, dosing, monitoring, and emergency response.

  • Participate in code blue, trauma, stroke, and sepsis alerts alongside physicians and nurses.

  • Collaborate with emergency medicine physicians, nurses, and residents to ensure evidence-based medication therapy.

  • Support antimicrobial stewardship and implement protocols for high-risk drugs and treatments.

  • Review medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, interactions, and contraindications.

  • Educate medical staff and patients regarding pharmacologic therapy, dosing, and side effects.

  • Participate in ED rounds, quality improvement initiatives, and formulary management.

  • Precept pharmacy residents and students as part of pharmacy education programs.


๐ŸŽ“ Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an accredited school of pharmacy.

  • Completion of PGY1 Pharmacy Residency required.

  • PGY2 in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, or relevant specialty strongly preferred.

  • Active pharmacist license in good standing.

  • ACLS/PALS certification preferred or required based on facility.

  • Prior experience in emergency, critical care, or hospital pharmacy highly desirable.


๐Ÿฅ Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong clinical knowledge of emergency pharmacotherapy

  • Ability to work in high-pressure, rapidly changing environments

  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills

  • Proficiency in EMR and pharmacy systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Pyxis, etc.)

  • Team player with a collaborative, proactive approach
