Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacist
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacist to join our fast-paced Emergency Department (ED). In this critical role, you will provide real-time clinical support, medication management, and therapeutic recommendations for acute and life-threatening conditions. You will be an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team, ensuring optimal pharmacotherapy and patient safety in the emergency setting.
Provide clinical pharmacy services in the Emergency Department (ED), including direct patient care, medication selection, dosing, monitoring, and emergency response.
Participate in code blue, trauma, stroke, and sepsis alerts alongside physicians and nurses.
Collaborate with emergency medicine physicians, nurses, and residents to ensure evidence-based medication therapy.
Support antimicrobial stewardship and implement protocols for high-risk drugs and treatments.
Review medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, interactions, and contraindications.
Educate medical staff and patients regarding pharmacologic therapy, dosing, and side effects.
Participate in ED rounds, quality improvement initiatives, and formulary management.
Precept pharmacy residents and students as part of pharmacy education programs.
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an accredited school of pharmacy.
Completion of PGY1 Pharmacy Residency required.
PGY2 in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, or relevant specialty strongly preferred.
Active pharmacist license in good standing.
ACLS/PALS certification preferred or required based on facility.
Prior experience in emergency, critical care, or hospital pharmacy highly desirable.
Strong clinical knowledge of emergency pharmacotherapy
Ability to work in high-pressure, rapidly changing environments
Excellent communication and decision-making skills
Proficiency in EMR and pharmacy systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Pyxis, etc.)
