Job Title: Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA)
Job Summary:
As a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA), you will be responsible for providing basic nursing care to elderly patients in long-term care facilities or nursing homes. Your main goal will be to ensure the comfort and well-being of the residents under your care, assisting them with daily tasks and helping to maintain their quality of life.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assisting residents with activities of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
2. Monitoring and recording vital signs and reporting any changes to the nursing staff.
3. Assisting with feeding and hydration needs as necessary.
4. Supporting residents in physical therapy exercises and mobility assistance.
5. Keeping residents' living areas clean and organized.
6. Providing emotional support and companionship to residents.
7. Following all care protocols and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
8. Communicating effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members.
9. Participating in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license required.
2. High school diploma or equivalent.
3. Previous experience working with elderly individuals preferred.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
6. Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
7. Physical stamina and ability to perform lifting and bending tasks.
8. Compassionate and patient demeanor.
9. Ability to work well in a team environment.
10. Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
