Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgery or procedures. They must closely monitor patients' vital signs, pain levels, and overall well-being as they transition from the operating room to the recovery room.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assessing patients' post-operative condition and monitoring vital signs
- Administering medications and managing pain effectively
- Collaborating with the surgical team to ensure smooth transitions for patients
- Providing emotional support to patients and their families as they recover
- Documenting patient care and maintaining accurate medical records
- Adhering to hospital policies and procedures to ensure patient safety
- Participating in training and professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in PACU nursing
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid RN license in the state of practice
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a PACU setting
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail and patient care
