Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
Job Summary:
The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) plays a crucial role in the operating room by assisting surgeons during surgical procedures. They are responsible for ensuring the operating room is prepared with all necessary equipment and supplies, maintaining a sterile environment, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
2. Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by passing instruments and sterile supplies.
3. Maintain a sterile field and prevent contamination during surgeries.
4. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and assist with any additional tasks as needed.
5. Handle and dispose of surgical specimens properly.
6. Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
7. Maintain accurate documentation of surgical procedures.
8. Monitor and maintain surgical equipment and supplies.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
2. High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a surgical technology program preferred.
3. Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and sterile techniques.
4. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
5. Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
6. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
7. Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift/move patients when necessary.
