Job Title: Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) - Operating Room (OR)
Job Summary:
The Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) in the Operating Room (OR) is responsible for assisting surgeons during surgical procedures by maintaining a sterile field, providing instrumentation and equipment, and ensuring the safety and well-being of the patient. The CSFA plays a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and ensuring successful outcomes for patients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Prepare operating room for surgical procedures by ensuring all equipment and supplies are sterilized and readily available.
2. Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, retracting tissues, suturing, and providing other necessary support.
3. Maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
4. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond quickly and efficiently to requests.
5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care.
6. Provide patient education and support before and after surgical procedures.
7. Adhere to all hospital policies and protocols relating to surgical procedures and patient care.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Current certification as a Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) required.
2. Completion of an accredited Surgical First Assistant program.
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a CSFA in a surgical setting.
4. Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and medical terminology.
5. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
6. Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
7. Attention to detail and a commitment to patient safety.
