Job title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is responsible for providing quality patient care during the recovery phase following surgery. They monitor patients closely as they emerge from anesthesia, assess their condition, and provide necessary interventions to ensure a safe and smooth transition to the next phase of recovery.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitor patients' vital signs and level of consciousness post-operatively.
2. Assess and manage pain levels in patients and administer appropriate medications.
3. Communicate with surgeons and anesthesiologists regarding patient status.
4. Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families.
5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
6. Ensure proper documentation of patient care and recovery progress.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Current RN license in the state of practice.
2. BLS and ACLS certification.
3. Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a PACU or critical care setting.
4. Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
7. Knowledge of anesthesia and post-operative care protocols.
