Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR), OR - Scrub/Circulate
Job Summary:
As a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room (OR) specializing in Scrub/Circulate duties, you will be responsible for assisting surgeons during surgical procedures by ensuring the operating room is properly set up, maintaining a sterile environment, and providing direct patient care before, during, and after surgery. You will also be responsible for circulating duties which involve coordinating patient care, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and acting as a patient advocate.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Prepare operating rooms before surgeries by sterilizing equipment and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
2. Provide direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures.
3. Assist surgeons by passing instruments and supplies, keeping track of surgical counts, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team.
4. Maintain a sterile environment in the operating room and adhere to infection control policies and procedures.
5. Monitor patients' vital signs and assist with post-operative care as needed.
6. Communicate effectively with the surgical team, patients, and their families throughout the surgical process.
7. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice.
2. BLS and ACLS certification.
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a surgical setting.
4. Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
7. Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
