Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients with cardiac conditions requiring intensive monitoring and treatment. They work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to evaluate patients, administer medications, monitor vital signs, and provide emotional support to patients and their families.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care of patients in the CVICU
2. Monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and lab results
3. Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
4. Collaborating with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans
5. Providing emotional support to patients and their families
6. Educating patients on cardiac conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies
7. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records
8. Adhering to all hospital policies and procedures to ensure safe and effective patient care
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice
2. BLS and ACLS certification
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a cardiovascular intensive care unit
4. Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
6. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment
7. Proficiency in electronic medical records systems
