Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)
Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) is responsible for the proper cleaning, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical supplies and equipment in healthcare facilities. They play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients by maintaining a sterile environment for surgeries and medical procedures.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Inspect, assemble, and package surgical instruments and equipment for sterilization.
2. Operate autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and other sterilization equipment.
3. Monitor and document sterilization indicators to ensure effectiveness.
4. Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and inventory of supplies.
5. Assist in the distribution of sterile supplies to different departments.
6. Follow infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
7. Collaborate with healthcare team members to meet the needs of patients.
8. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
9. Stay updated on the latest advancements in sterile processing techniques.
10. Attend training sessions and workshops as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CBSPD or IAHCSMM) preferred.
3. Previous experience in sterile processing or healthcare setting is a plus.
4. Knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control practices.
5. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
7. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
8. Team player with a positive attitude.
9. Ability to lift and move heavy equipment.
10. Basic computer skills.
