Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Behavioral Health
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) Behavioral Health is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients with mental health disorders. They assess patient needs, develop care plans, administer medications, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with mental health disorders
2. Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare providers
3. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers
4. Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed
5. Provide education and support to patients and families on mental health conditions and treatment options
6. Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, and therapists to provide comprehensive care
7. Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner
8. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research projects to improve patient outcomes
9. Adhere to all ethical and legal standards of nursing practice
10. Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of patients
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice
2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
3. Certification in psychiatric nursing or mental health nursing preferred
4. Minimum of 2 years of experience in behavioral health nursing
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
6. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment
7. Knowledge of mental health disorders, treatments, and medications
8. Ability to assess and prioritize patient needs
9. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare documentation
10. BLS certification required
11. ACLS certification preferred
12. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
13. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
14. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and treatment modalities
15. Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education
