Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Triage, Outpatient
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) Triage, Outpatient is responsible for assessing patient's health needs and providing appropriate medical advice and care over the phone. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Answer incoming phone calls from patients seeking medical advice
2. Perform initial assessment to determine the urgency of the patient's condition
3. Provide medical advice and recommendations based on established protocols and guidelines
4. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
5. Document all interactions with patients accurately and thoroughly in electronic health records
6. Follow up with patients as needed to ensure continuity of care
7. Educate patients on self-care techniques and follow-up instructions
8. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
9. Adhere to all state and federal regulations governing nursing practice
10. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in outpatient triage
3. Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
5. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
6. Proficiency in electronic health record systems
7. Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
8. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
9. BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
10. Commitment to providing high-quality patient care
