Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Admissions, Pre-Op
Job Summary:
As a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Admissions and Pre-Op, you will be responsible for assessing patients prior to surgery, coordinating pre-operative testing and procedures, and ensuring patients are prepared for their surgical procedures. You will work closely with the surgical team to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct thorough assessments of patients to determine their readiness for surgery.
2. Coordinate pre-operative tests and procedures, such as blood work, EKGs, and imaging studies.
3. Educate patients on what to expect before, during, and after surgery.
4. Monitor and assess patients' vital signs and overall condition before surgery.
5. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare providers to develop individualized care plans.
6. Ensure proper informed consent forms are completed and signed by patients.
7. Assist with preparing patients for surgery, including administering medications and starting IVs.
8. Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families.
9. Document all patient interactions and interventions accurately in medical records.
10. Maintain a safe and sterile environment in the pre-operative area.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a surgical setting.
- BLS and ACLS certification.
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
