Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Labor & Delivery (L&D)
Job Summary:
As a Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery, you will be responsible for providing care and support to mothers before, during, and after childbirth. You will work closely with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safety and well-being of both the mother and baby throughout the labor and delivery process.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs during labor
2. Assist with pain management techniques, including medication administration and comfort measures
3. Coach mothers through the process of labor and delivery
4. Perform assessments of the mother and baby before and after childbirth
5. Assist with breastfeeding and newborn care
6. Collaborate with the healthcare team to create individualized care plans
7. Educate patients and families on prenatal and postpartum care
8. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
9. Respond to emergencies and provide immediate care when needed
10. Participate in continuing education and training to stay current on best practices in labor and delivery care
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice
2. BLS and ACLS certifications
3. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
4. Experience in labor and delivery nursing preferred
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
6. Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
7. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse healthcare team
8. Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
9. Compassionate and caring attitude towards patients and families
10. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times
