Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MSICU) is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients. They must assess patients, create and implement care plans, monitor vital signs, administer medication, and collaborate with the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assessing patients' conditions and creating individualized care plans.
2. Monitoring patients' vital signs and responding to changes in condition.
3. Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
4. Collaborating with the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care.
5. Educating patients and their families about their conditions and treatments.
6. Providing emotional support to patients and their families.
7. Ensuring compliance with regulatory and professional standards.
8. Maintaining accurate and updated patient records.
9. Participating in continuous education and professional development activities.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice.
2. Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) preferred.
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical ICU setting.
4. Current BLS and ACLS certification.
5. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
7. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
8. Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
