Job Title: Laboratory Pathology Assistant
Job Summary:
The Laboratory Pathology Assistant will be responsible for assisting pathologists in the preparation and analysis of laboratory specimens. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist pathologists in the gross examination and dissection of tissue specimens.
2. Prepare tissue specimens for analysis, including embedding, cutting, staining, and mounting onto slides.
3. Perform various laboratory tests and procedures as directed by pathologists.
4. Maintain accurate records of specimen processing and results.
5. Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and workspaces.
6. Adhere to all laboratory safety protocols and guidelines.
7. Help with inventory management and ordering of supplies.
8. Assist with training and supervision of new laboratory staff members.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as biology or medical technology.
2. Previous experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in pathology.
3. Knowledge of laboratory procedures and techniques.
4. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
